Trump Refuses To Let Go, Slams Graham’s “DIsgusting Lie” About Charlottesville Comments

Following yesterday’s advisory councils debacle, Trump woke up on Thursday and seemingly unable to “let it go”, immediately went after South Carolina Sen. Lindsay Graham over his latest criticism of Trump’s response to the violence in Charlottesville.

In a burst of tweets, confirming yet again that Gen Kelly remains powerless to contain Trump’s tweeting habit, Trump said “publicity seeking Lindsey Graham falsely stated that I said there is moral equivalency between the KKK, neo-Nazis & white supremacists and people like Ms. Heyer. Such a disgusting lie. He just can’t forget his election trouncing. The people of South Carolina will remember!”

Trump’s anger was provoked by Graham statement on Wednesday that Trump’s reaction to the violence was dividing the country, saying he made a “moral equivalency” between white supremacists who attended the weekend rally and Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old woman who was killed after being hit by a car allegedly driven by a man with far-right views.

“I, along with many others, do not endorse this moral equivalency,” Graham said. “Many Republicans … will fight back against the idea that the Party of Lincoln has a welcome mat out for the David Dukes of the world.”

While Trump’s latest outburst against Graham was expected, the question is whether the president will also go after the CEO of the world’s most valuable company next the same way he lashed out at Jeff Bezos and Amazon yesterday, following Tim Cook’s comments overnight, where in an email to employees the Apple CEO said that “I disagree with the president and others who believe that there is a moral equivalence between white supremacists and Nazis, and those who oppose them by standing up for human rights,” according to Axios.

Cook also said that “hate is a cancer, and left unchecked it destroys everything in its path” and added that “we must not witness or permit such hate and bigotry in our country, and we must be unequivocal about it. This is not about the left or the right, conservative or liberal.”

Finally, Cook said that Apple will donate $1 million each to Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League and match two-for-one employees donations to these and other human rights group from now to Sept. 30.
